Welcome to Yeading Walk

Yeading Walk is a beautiful linear park situated in North Harrow and has been described as ‘Harrows hidden gem’.

It is a special space and a wonderful resource for the whole community.

Yeading Brook, which runs through the park is a tributary of the River Crane.

A variety of mature native trees which bring a high backdrop to the park, balanced and enhanced by the lower shrubs and lawn areas. The park is home to a variety of wildlife such as foxes, badgers, deer and an abundance of birdlife including our resident little egret.

A designated Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC), the Friends of Yeading Walk champions this green space in supporting wildlife and biodiversity.  On the right bank of the river, over a third of the park remains undeveloped and undisturbed – left ‘Wild for Nature’. With the environment, conservation and wildlife at the heart of all our activities, Yeading Walk is a welcoming place for people and nature.

Park Facilities

The park has four entrances, all wheelchair / buggy accessible, and is also a Metropolitan bicycle route. Level paths connect Rayners Lane to Northumberland Road, which is a 5 minute walk from North Harrow Underground Station and bus routes, while Suffolk Road links Lincoln Road across the main wooden bridge. There is also a community orchard near our Suffolk Road entrance.

Become a member of the Friends

The Friends of Yeading Walk are a voluntary group of local residents, whose intention is to preserve the wildness of the park, while improving areas of neglect. 

Membership to the group is open to any individual, and as a member, you will be added to our mailing list ensuring that you are informed of critical matters involving the park and information regarding events.

The Friends Group maintain the park in partnership with Harrow Council. We have been successful with a number of bids over the years which have enabled us to create many beautiful planting areas and improve the facilities of the park. However, it is the continuing dedication of our volunteers which is transforming the park and creating sustainable improvement.

We have a friendly, active team of volunteers meeting most Saturday mornings for ‘Project Saturdays’ and occasionally other days for specific projects, such as planting trees and bulbs and helping run events.

The Friends group encourage community engagement by organising informative events which largely focus on wildlife and environmental topics such as Bat Walks, RSPB bird walks, Tree Walk & Talk and environmental awareness competitions for our younger members of the community.

Throughout the year, there are a range of activities to suit all ages including:

• Litter picking

• General gardening

• Clearing overgrown areas

• Cleaning the stream

With nine planted areas, there are opportunities for interested gardeners to help create and maintain a high standard of horticulture in the park, creating enjoyment for visitors and a feast for pollinators.

• Organise a ‘Corporate Volunteering Day’ in the park with your employer.

• Harrow Wins is an exciting weekly lottery that raises money for good causes in Harrow. You can help to boost our fundraising by purchasing tickets. Tickets cost just £1 per week and you can win up to £25,000! Go to: www.harrowwins.co.uk and search for Yeading Walk.

• Sponsor a tree. Age and storms and have depleted the tree stock in the park. The Friends have an ongoing programme of replacing trees and improving the biodiversity in the park. Planting trees is a key climate change mitigation strategy and great for supporting wildlife.

Plant Stall. Support the Friends at the annual St Albans Summer Fair. We welcome donations of ornamental plants, vegetables and good quality children’ s books. We can collect or ring your contributions to the Fair on the day.
